Foreign nationals who want their parents or grandparents to temporarily reside with them in Canada can apply for a Super Visa. Grandparents and parents who qualify may visit family in Canada for up to 5 years without having to renew their status thanks to the Canadian Super Visa. For those family members who want to spend the most time in Canada, this is the perfect route!
You can submit a paper-based application or an online application for a super visa. You must demonstrate that you are the parent or grandparent of a Canadian citizen or lawful permanent resident in any situation. A letter of invitation from your child or grandchild, outlining your care options and the number of individuals residing in their Canadian household, must be sent with your application. You must also show proof of private health insurance from a Canadian insurance provider that is good for at least a year. Additionally, your child or grandchild will need to show that they can support you financially during your stay by proving that they make at least the Low Income Cut-Off (LICO) level for their family size.
Applicants must be the parents or grandparents of Canadian citizens or permanent
residents in order to
qualify for the super visa. The super visa is not available to people who are dependent
on their
grandparents or parents. They may nonetheless apply for a standard visitor visa. The
applicants for
super visas must also be approved for admission to Canada and fulfill certain
requirements.
Before determining whether a candidate is acceptable, visa officers take into account a
number of
variables. Officers must have confidence that the applicant is a real foreign tourist
who will leave Canada
voluntarily at the conclusion of their stay. The following are a few things the officer
may take into
account:
the person’s ties to his or her home country,
the purpose of the visit,
the person’s family and financial situation,
the overall economic and political stability of
the home country, and
invitations from Canadian hosts.
